Description
Two young girls spend an afternoon exploring the shoreline of a quiet lake in the woods. The watercolor painting captures the reflections on the still water. Somerset Velvet paper is recommended for prints.
I spent summers on a lake in northern Wisconsin, the same lake where I live now. The frogs, snails, minnows, cattails, ferns, waves, reflections, clouds, all provided endless hours of exploration as I was growing up with my two younger sisters and cousins. When I spied my young nieces wading in the bay it brought back a flood of memories. With my camera snapping, I captured their activities, and even directed a few poses. They are natural models!
The image literally painted itself. When finished, I sat back and was almost overwhelmed by the emotions I was experiencing. The title "Lessons of the Lake" expresses the idea of a continuum of knowledge that flows through the generations of our family, not passed by any spoken word but by a shared joy of hours spent on the shores of this little body of water. More than genetics, it is what we as a family have in common.

A very beautiful image reminiscent of my children when they were young and so curious, Kris! A very nice description!
